Maya Esparza, San Jose City Councilmember, District 7

“For generations, Santa Clara University has cultivated leaders and citizens with a firm commitment to fairness and social justice. I call on the University to uphold these values for its adjunct faculty. I stand with the non-tenure track faculty and believe that they must decide for themselves, through an open and democratic process, whether to organize. An open and thoughtful process that allows our educators to arrive at the best decision for themselves will help ensure that Santa Clara University remains a beacon of justice and morally-centered leadership for generations to come.”

Cindy Chavez, Santa Clara County Supervisor, District 2

“Non-tenure track faculty are the bedrock of Santa Clara University. They deserve a fair and equal process. I stand with non-tenure track faculty and believe that they must decide for themselves.”
